Volunteer and donor

Project: Community in the Classroom

“My visits to the classroom allowed me to see
talented, dedicated teachers performing the
most important job in America - building our
future through EDUCATION. Only an educated
population can insure a strong, free and
economically stable America. Thanks teachers!”

Pat Gainey,
SHS history/civics teacher

Project: We the People

“In this era of budget cuts by governments at
the local, state, and national level, the grants
provided by the Spearfish Foundation for Public
Education allow my students to participate in
valuable programs like We the People. The
foundation has generously made it possible for
hundreds of Spearfish students to participate at
the national competition and realize they can
compete with students from across the nation.”

Jessica Zwaschka,
SHS chemistry teacher
Project: Science Enrichment Camps

“The support provided by the Spearfish
Foundation for Public Education has made it
possible for me to provide summer science
enrichment for Spearfish students for three
summers. Science Camp gives our 1st
through 5th grade students an academic
choice for summer fun.”

Elaine Doll-Dunn,
community participant
Project: Elder’s Wisdom, Children’s Song

“Within ‘Elder’s Wisdom, Children’s Song’,
students reflect on the past, savor the present
and challenge the future. It provides an
opportunity for honored elders and students
to communicate and share life’s lessons
through stories and song. Everyone
learns, grows, and celebrates a lifetime
of experience. Age becomes truly…just a
number.
